  • A Wonderful Counselor

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Isiah 9:6 KJV In my podcast called Everyday Consequences, I spoke about the mislabeling of behavioral problems and the misleading idea that worldly remedies are the best way out. Simply put; while drugs and other treatments may be a stop-gap, they are most often not the answer to emotional, behavioral or psychological issues. I'm not saying there is no place for them at all. I'm just saying they are WAY overused. And, in my experience, even when so-called "experts" call for them, there's always another way. And if you've ever really known this fellah named Jesus of Nazareth, or His Father; you already know what I'm talking about. In my podcast, Everyday Consequences, I talk about (what is now) my 26+ years of education and experience in working with children and families. I also talk about my own personal experience in pulling myself up from hardships. There were my own issues that doctors claimed to have textbook solutions to, but in reality, they don't. Once I tried the solution of going to God and Christ, that's when I took the medical system's dirty old bandaids off and began to truly heal from what had been broken in my life. While I do appreciate the medical field and know it is often needed; I've also seen people healed in miraculous ways, both mentally and physically. I've witnessed the end of disorders, diseases, mental illnesses, terminal cancers and more; all by the power of Christ. I've even seen some of those miracles in my own body, heart, mind and spirit. So when I hear that someone has been convinced that the manual to life (Bible) is wrong, that it's not possible to be healed without drugs, procedures, etc; I get pretty frustrated. When I see people jump to worldly remedies first, I get upset. And when I see ads like the following I took a screenshot of, I feel the need to stand up. It's because I know we can do better than this. I know we can do better than to trade healthy solutions that last forever for quick fixes that bring all kinds of new consequences. So take this ad for example: My two cents If you think manipulating brain cells with EMR (electromagnetic radiation) is not intrusive, look up how a microwave cooks food. I've spent decades designing electronic devices, including those that generate EMR, and have spent a lot of time studying their effects on the human body and brain. I've also counseled many children, families and individuals. Electronic devices, drugs and behavioral manipulation are not counseling. Counseling has nothing to do with invasive procedures or anything that alters human functions through chemistry or electromechanical manipulation. Counseling is about how you help someone get to the root of their issue, understand it and then adapt their life to work with its effects. I've seen it many times; people who don't truly heal, no matter how many worldly solutions are thrown at them. I doesn't matter how many drugs are tried and how many variables; many times, they just don't completely work. And then I've seen the opposite, so many times I couldn't count them on 100 sets of fingers and toes; cutting past the drugs and devices, getting to the root cause of the issues and watching people finally heal. The rule of thumb is really quite simple; the more you understand something, the less it can hurt you. There are no drugs or devices that can open that door. Now for the Christian side of it: I am the driver (the spirit), not the machine (the body). If a counselor doesn't understand that; if a counselor can only work with the machine and not the driver; If a counselor doesn't draw from the greatest mind who ever existed in the field of counseling, Jesus Christ, what in the world are they doing? • Watching The Fall (Article and Podcasts)

I've seen some really ugly stuff, but never in my 48 years of life, until recently, have I seen this kind of wide-spread sin. Never have I seen such a fight to protect behaviors that break the system God built. Never have seen such a massive turning away from the gifts of life, joy and peace; the gifts given by Christ and His Father through sacrifice and love. I've seen addictions neutralize people and even kill them. I've seen many people who shut out the information that could save their eternal lives; petrified away from the first steps toward renewal. I've seen anger, deception and hate run rampant, as we are all beginning to see. I do not use stock photography. See this image in my personal photography portfolio. I'm not ill over it because they don't agree with a Biblical lifestyle. I support everyone's right to choose their beliefs. I'm not ill when someone doesn't agree with me; some of the people I love most in life don't. I'm not angry because their subjective argument cannot stand against an objective one. What really bothers me is how thin the walls are between us and the truth; so thin that it takes nearly nothing to break through them. But, through fear, misinformation and the deception that God is not a greater reward than comfort; we're losing people. And THAT'S what makes me head-dropping sad; that true life is right there and I don't see enough people with a reason to reach out for it. The subjective information is that The Christ and His teachings are not the way home. The objective is that He is, and it can be proven. And with the walls between us and Him being so thin, it's only weakness that keeps us from tearing the veil. It's the weakness that keeps us from standing up against addiction, worldly comfort, worldly opinion and the fight to keep us from our own investigation of Christ. Even if we live to be 100, it's fast and it may not be enough time to look past the smoke and mirrors. Worldly standards will serve you for now. Godly standards will serve you forever. • Hurt

A man who was involved in all kinds of sorrows, Johnny Cash; hear what he says about how he hurt himself just to see if he could still feel? It wasn't originally his song, but obviously he felt the words as if they were his own and he did a mighty fine job of representing it from his own heart. From my own, distant past; I understand it, personally, completely. But the man singing, Johnny Cash, kept reaching out as we all often do. And here's some beautiful irony; the original writer, Trent Reznor, at one point, was quite anti-Christian. In Johnny Cash's video, and his own past songs, he has been trying to follow Christ (apparent in songs like "Daddy Sang Bass"). Lately, Mr. Reznor has been shifting into the spectrum of belief in God (as people who've experienced this much pain often do). And, as I once did, he is trying to find that God through a mess of religion that often mucks things up. I do not use stock photos. See this image in my personal photography portfolio. So there are two key points here: 1. No one finds God because someone tell them to. We find Him through experience, especially real suffering. 2. Trent Reznor and Johnny Cash have both openly expressed the struggle of forgiving ourselves and forgiving each other. It's also a struggle many of us, including myself, have been through. I've addressed both points: Is God Real? A collection of videos, articles and podcasts that shed light on the age-old question, is God real? Forgiveness An extensive collection of media, giving technical details and personal experience on how to forgive yourself and others. And now, the song cover by Johnny Cash Thanks for looking :) I spend a lot of late nights and challenging moments working hard. • We've Been Attacking Each Other (Meme)

We've been attacking each other for thousands of years without any new outcome since it started. It's a truth that reflects one simple equation; to solve social unrest, you don't attack people, you attack bad behavior. That takes empathy and education; a more challenging road with better results.
