More 7's lists Share this list Here are seven signs you're called to ministry (even if you don't believe). If you had the money, you’d feed the hungry, house the homeless and educate the poor; every... last... one of them. To you, uplifting someone is a greater gift than a new TV, When someone or somethinng hurts you; you’d rather respond in a way that helps everyone, than to throw your hands up and hurt others, saying “oh well, they did it to me”. In your eyes, the world’s gear shift is jammed, duct taped, glued and welded in "R" (for reverse), Small talk is somewhere in the same ballpark as going to the dentist. Deep subjects, like how life feels when you get into a new romance or when a loved one dies; that’s as refreshing as going to a buffet after starving for 3 days. You feel sympathy/ empathy for just about everyone, even people who most others see as disposable, You react to bad personal experience in a constructive way, thinking about how sharing it would help others avoid it. . . . . • What is RSS? | Getting to God

Back to Free Article and Site Updates. What is RSS? RSS. Sometimes it's called Really Simple Syndication, sometimes Rich Site Summary. In any case, it's a way to receive news from a website that is an alternative to an email subscription. Why choose RSS over email subscriptions? I do use my email address to subscribe to some newsletters, but I also sometimes use RSS for a few reasons: Anonymity. I don't have to give out my email address to a site I may not fully trust. Reducing clutter. While SlyFocal.com does not give out your email address to others, many subscription services do. You may think you're signing up for just one newsletter, but then you may start receiving several from other companies. Speed. My RSS feed is updated almost immediately, while my email notifications usually take a few hours to be sent out. Why you may NOT want to use RSS Because the RSS feed does not usually involve giving your own contact info, you can't receive individual notices from websites. You'll only get general articles meant for the masses. You sometimes have to install and run another app just to receive your news. It's much quicker and easier to put your email addy in a box. How do I use RSS? You grab the feed address and plug it in to one of the following: A web browser that supports direct RSS usage. Do a web search for "How to use RSS with [your browser name], A special app that is made for delivering RSS Feeds, like RSS Bot (What I use on Mac OS). Do a web search for "Best RSS apps for [your operating system]", A RSS web service. Do a web search for "Best web based RSS". But with a web service you will not remain as anonymous as with the above because the service will likely ask for registration information. Back to Free Article and Site Updates.

  • Cleaner Spiritual Living | Getting to God

Cleaner Spiritual Living I have this sort of mind blowing set of personal experiences; that is, events and choices that have clearly shown me some wonderful rewards for cleaning up my life, and my behavior. I grew up around many people who've never really handled social-emotional situations well. I've seen extreme and even dangerous hypocrisy. I've also worked with damaged children and broken families for decades. I've seen, adopted and eliminated much of my own poor behavior. This all gives me a unique perspective on the basic mechanics of human behavior and spirituality. I have the clear, objective and truthful knowledge that people do what people are taught to do. We are not born just "good" or "bad", nor are we that way as adults. That gives me a practical, non-judgmental perspective and helps me help others find an easier path to God, one we ALL deserve. As I know this myself, a cleaner life is one that can't be forced. It has to be learned, earned and appreciated by those who adopt it. The hardest part for me was to accept the need and recognize the rewards. That's what this section of my ministry is about, helping others find reasons, hope and strength to live more for the spirit than for the body; to choose short term sacrifice with long term reward, instead of the opposite. The following are personal stories and findings about the how's and why's we would live a cleaner life: My Living Death (Love, Sin and Miracles) (podcast) - I put this one in first for good reason. While not everyone is looking for a story about breaking love-related sin, this one is a strong witness to how breaking any sin can greatly improve a life, and a spiritual future. Back to the Manual (podcast) - 2nd in line for good reason. When you need to know how to do it right, plug your eyes into the word of God. He wrote the policies and he hasn't changed them yet. The Realism of Sin (Podcast) - We're being mislead about the acceptance of sin. This podcast looks at the realities and final arguments of why we would want to eliminate sin from our lives. The Bible - What is it and how do I Read? (article) - How to get started with the manual mentioned in the podcast above. Porn is Okay, Right? (article) - A personal story; for me, it was one of the most difficult roadblocks to remove from my path to God. Wicca, Witchcraft, Wile (article) - One of the biggest deceptions today, that witchcraft, wicca and the like are something sanctioned by God. Sin, a Realistic View (article) - My personal approach to non-judgmental help with bad behavior. The Absolute Real Power of Words (article) - A great ship, a small rudder; when it's time to keep gossip and negativity from sterling the course. How to get Used by the Dark Side (article) - Convincing you a clean life is for the weak; big business does it. High school cliques do it. But the one at the head of it all, he is, for now, all but condemned for his leadership role... Facebook Twitter RSS

  • The Hardest Relationships (Recources) | Getting to God

These resources support the main article, The Hardest Relationships are the Strongest, and its companion article. Stories of people who forgave serious and damaging social mistakes Voices Of Forgiveness: Finding The Strength To Forgive My Grandmother -Huffington Post/ Jenn Bender Voices Of Forgiveness: How I Finally Forgave My Parents - Huffington Post/ Kim Kloes Found at Just Between Us (.org), a story by Corrie Ten Boom, author of The Hiding Place https://justbetweenus.org/faith/inspirational-stories/christian-stories-of-forgiveness/ "And so woodenly, mechanically, I thrust my hand into the one stretched out to me. And as I did, an incredible thing took place. The current started in my shoulder, raced down my arm, sprang into our joined hands. And then this healing warmth seemed to flood my whole being, bringing tears to my eyes." Video Actor Dolph Lundgren gives a very powerful and emotional account, his own story of forgiveness over abuse. I highly recommend watching as his story helped me, not only in this article, but in my own life. It’s about 15 minutes long and completely worth it. Click here to view directly on Youtube . Some of what the bible says about forgiveness (all are KJV) Colossians 3:12 (one of my favorites) 12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. Matthew 18:22 21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. Matthew 6:14-15 14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Mark 11:25-26 25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

  • Free Info Packages | Gettinng to God

Free Information Packages Learning about God and strengthening the spirit are not always straight forward things. Each one of us leads an individualized life, with our own sets of strength and weakness. The following are packages of information designed to help with each of those sets. Is God Real? - Don't get it? I get it! I was once an Atheist/Evolutionist, until I started the same kind of workaround I'm offering here. I dropped the middle man and blazed my own path. And now I'm sharing answers to the most basic questions we all should have, but are often left unanswered. Effective Prayer - I used to struggle with prayer, wondering why mine didn't feel very effective. Then I learned why it was weak and how to make it stronger. Now, the difference is like night and day. My prayers are successful and my trust in God has reached much greater heights. Personal Peace - For those who seek it or those who wish to keep it, peace in this world can feel like an illusive thing. Fight Right (Scripture for Battle) - The enemy's efforts to make himself look like nobody and nothing have reached catastrophic failure for me. Repairing Broken Faith - For me there have been stages of faith, growing past borders from one strength to the next. I don’t remember a single one of those transitions being simple and quick. Cleaner Spiritual Living - I have this sort of mind blowing set of personal experiences; that is, events and choices that have clearly shown me some wonderful rewards for cleaning up my life, and my behavior. How to Read the Bible - A realistic view of what it is, how to navigate it and how to use it. More information packages will arrive over time. Stay up to date to find out when new packages arrive, like: The Anger Package, help with managing emotion and reaction, Packages for both, forgiving yourself for your own guilt and forgiving others, Packages that help deal with our pasts and how this broken world causes us damage, More! .

  • Stages of Faith | Getting to God

Stages of Faith “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬ My personal path; darkness to light, unknown to known; a journey shaped by exploration and life experience; a beautiful mix of pain, astounding joy and everything in between. I once needed someone to give me the words you’ll find in these podcasts. My hope; they might save the kind of life I almost lost. These are the stages of faith I went through, in the basic order I went through them (written versions to follow soon). They do not have to be listened to in order. Disbelief (E1) I left the whole thing behind and spent a couple of decades promoting what I thought was truth; that God, to me, wasn’t real. Signs and Data (E2) I’m a doubting Thomas, about just about everything. I need signs and data. In part it’s because I have a hard time trusting people, and also, it’s because I’m a scientist. Exploration of Religion and the Reality of Christ (E3) I’ve spent time in many different churches, practiced Yoga, studied Hinduism, spent a year in Methodist services, and Grace and Jewel and I lived on the grounds of a Buddhist center while joining their practices for almost an entire year. As I've said, I've seen a lot. Studying the Bible (E4) I read it again, and as I do this, Paul’s words start to come alive. Knowing the Opposition (E5) Never just look at things from straight on. Always look around the back, the sides, above, below and all sorts of angles. Ebb and Flow (E6) It’s going to happen. There will be times when faith is tested no matter who you are. Opposing Ourselves (E7) We have the ability to oppose ourselves and break our own faith; to cause our own damage and then be blinded by our own consequences. Working With the System (E8) Even if my destiny was eternal fire, I still want to learn to do the right thing. Strength Training (E9) It means not only practicing Biblical faith, but also accepting those hard moments that God puts in my path, even when I don’t want to accept them. Battle Training (E10) An enemy with thousands of years of training. If I don’t make it through God’s spiritual boot camp, I won’t make it through anything. Trusting the Bible (E11) Trust, in something that was written thousands of years ago. A surprising outcome. An uplifting experience. The Long Haul (E12) It’s about the realistic challenges in holding on to God and to forever. It’s also about truckers and pineapple-pizza-people. How Do You Not Know Me? A message for anyone in doubt of God's existence or love for us. Find more podcasts here . . . .

  • General Battle Scripture 3 | Getting to God

General Battle Scripture (Set 3) See all sets and main article (explanation) here. Supporters, click here to listen to/download this in .pdf .doc .rtf and audio/podcast formats. “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” Romans 5:1-5 KJV “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” Deuteronomy 31:6 KJV “Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:28-31 KJV “Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.” Isaiah 40:4-5 KJV “I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.” Psalms 16:8 KJV “The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. This is the Lord's doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.” Psalms 118:22-23 KJV “Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s” Deuteronomy 1:17 KJV Supporters, click here to listen to/download this in .pdf .doc .rtf and audio/podcast formats. Compiled by Shawn P Keenan Getting to God - A presence, dedicated to the search of the soul https://www.gettingtogod.com
